Goodbye West Rusk
by: Janie McAvoy
Dear West Rusk,
My time here has been truly amazing. This school is like no other. I'm proud to say I will always be a Raider, from New London, TX. I love each one you in many different ways. You've shown me love, forgiveness, care, & loyalty. I've been going to WR since Kindergarten and now it's my time to say " thank you ". You have influenced my life in ways you couldn't imagine. I wish I could stay forever, but somebody has to tell Utah how great you all are! Here @ W.R.J.H., I've gained friends that are forever. Even if I have to wait 'till Prom, or Graduation Day, to come back, I'll do it. I love you with all my heart & always will. I love you like I love glitter, and stars that form animals, and dancing like nobody's business, and having the last word. And that is real love.
Love,
Janie McAvoy

SPIKING IT UP
by: Amber Driver
Our volleyball game against Winona didn't go as planned, but everyone played an awesome game. We had great serves for many of our 8th graders as well as our 7th graders. Our 7th grade has a strong team and with a little more practice they will be one of the best teams in the district. The 8th grade team has shown great leadership, progress and ability to get better. Our team is very enthusiastic about our upcoming games we are confident in our abilty to win and we are hoping to show you the first chance we get. We hope our athletic teams will become the best of the best. We have practiced hard and hope to win the rest of our games. I hope to see everyone come out and support the West Rusk J.H. Volleyball teams. Thank you for supporting the W.R.J.H Lady Raiders.

Cheerleading
by: Janie McAvoy
Cheerleading is a sport that not everyone can do but is very fun for those that do it.If you are looking for a free ride to WRJH football games then we've got you covered. In cheerleading its about having fun, having a good attitude, smiling big,and cheering on the football team to many victories. Our squad has members from the 7th & 8th grade. Many fun and hilarious moments happen when you're around us. We love supporting our team, having fun,and eating Dairy Queen after it all:) In cheerleading we make lots of new friends, get closer to old ones, and share our feelings to each other. We trust each other and stand up for each other like anyone would do when they are a team. In our squad we are like one big giant family. Come see us cheer and support the Raiders on Thursday nights!... We love our Raiders!

Mrs. Wood,
1.) Q:When did you decide that you wanted to be a Social Studies teacher?
A:I was in 10th grade. I had an amazing World History teacher who was so excited about History, that she made us excited about it too!
2.) Q:Have you always been interested history?
A:Yes I have always loved history there is so much that we can learn from what our ancestors did in the past.
3.) Q:What is your favorite historical topic?
A:World War II
4.) Q: Tell us about where you live? We hear your "barn house', is really nice.
A: I live out in the country, right next to the Police Firing Range. I live in a barn, - but it's nice inside. There are no animals inside - except for my husband.
Coming Back
Last Thursday the Junior High Raiders traveled to to Troup to take on the Tigers. We started out not doing very well. With a lot of bad plays and couple of careless mistakes we were down 14 to 2 at halftime. After being corrected by the coaches, we went back out on the field with our heads held high. We decided as a team that we were not going to lose the game. So with a lot of hard work and determination we came back and tied the game 14 to 14. We all played a great game.
A few highlights of the game include,
Breyon intercepting the ball on a two point conversion to get us 2 points on the board.
Dee caught a pass for a gain of about 80 yards.
Alex sacked the quarterback
Corey sacked the quaterback for a loss of about 7 yards.
Malik and Corey tackled the runner on kickoff to keep the Tigers from getting anymore yards.
